OTEKA Demon Legion

There was a teacher in Nigeria had these little games she played to keep her students all feeling strong. One of them was "Oteka". The word is a slang term for "hero, leader, general, strong person at the front" and she would call people in class sometimes and challenge them to call out what they were the leaders of. One student would say they were Oteka of books,if they loved to read or Oteka of Chicken if they liked to cook. Everyone would laugh.

Basically, no matter what, you had a legion of something behind you that would grow and make you strong. One student was struggling and told the teacher he was Obu, Oteka of demons, because he had demons in his life and he would try to use them to do good things.

I liked the idea of thinking of yourself as the leader of things- the things in your life- and using them to be strong. Even if they were the demons you were struggling with.
